Two words: Coconut Chicken. Very few Chinese food restaurants have it, but all should. Chen's Garden makes some of the best. This is is in my opinion the best Chinese eatery in Mountain Home. It's clean, the service polite, and the food tasty.

Do not get take out. I got cashew chicken. It is FRIED CHICKEN with 1/8cup cashews thrown on top! EGAD! Where is the sauce? The veggies? The buffet may be good here but this is NOT cashew chicken as found in most Chinese restaurants. I know I know it's the south BUT if I just wanted fried chicken I would have gone to Kentucky FRIED Chicken!

My parents told me about this place. Tried it yesterday. Awesome buffet!!!! The best Chinese food I have ever had!! Selection was good. Desserts were good! I even tried some sushi for the first time. Don't know what I ate but it tasted good. It was defiantly worth the drive from Harrison!!! And it is not expensive at all. Love this place!!!

My boyfriend, sister and I have all been here many times. The last few times have been...less than pleasant. We have gotten sick twice. Some of the food is decent, but there isn't a ton to choose from and from what I've seen, the Mongolian stir fry is gone. The prices aren't too bad. But the food is often old, barely warm and once I saw mold on a cake. Definitely don't plan to eat here anymore. It seems to have really gone downhill.

Always enjoy their food bar. Best Chinese place in M.H. to eat! When I need my Chinese fix this is where we go!

I refuse to go back here even thought it used to be my favorite Chinese buffet in town. I've heard of too many people (close friends, not just acquaintances) finding things in there food that should not be there. The staff isn't apologetic about it and does not even offer to waive the bill. Such a shame, but I don't be back.

Been coming here regularly since it opened. It's usually pretty good, but the last two times I went, including this evening, it left much to be desired. At 7 PM this evening, the buffet was in sad shape. Most trays were almost empty. What remained in them was old, stale, and pitiful looking. The tiny little pile of garlic green beans, the ones that look so vibrant and taste so delicious at noon, were wrinkled, brown, and limp. The chicken chunks for cashew chicken were hard and dried out. There were only 4 or 5 boiled shrimp left in the tray. The California rolls were all dried out. Even the rice had dried out. If I were the owner, I'd be embarassed to keep the door open and continue serving the public once it reaches this stage. Blah !

My husband and I are Chinese food snobs. When we moved back to the area in 2006, we were sadly disappointed with the local choices for Chinese. Then came Chen's Garden last summer (2008). What a welcome new restaurant! The buffet has lots of variety and everything is always fresh and delicious! They also have a Mongolian grill where you pile up your own fresh, raw ingredients and they are steam grilled to perfection. It's included with the buffet. The decor is beautiful and tasteful. Booths and tables are available. Kids 3 and under eat free with a paying adult. In addition to the buffet, they have a menu for dine-in or take-out.

A large interior is hidden behind this small entryway. I've only eaten buffet here - which is very good and recently went to entirely MSG free. Included in the buffet is a mongolian sytle fresh stir fry which is quite good. Several americanized items on the buffet - I'd never come across Chinese doughnuts before. The price is very reasonable, one of our favorites.

Excellent buffet for the price. Food is fresh. Sushis are well represented. Cook to order Mongolian if you like to build your own plate. The fried catfish are yummy all by itself. They also have takeout menu if you do not want to dine in. What more can you ask for?

This place has gone downhill since the old owners left The lunch buffet was limited pretty much to chicken options. The Mongolian stir fry had fewer items. Didn't seem as clean.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
